Ski on a Platform in Powder
Think of this platform as a flexible piece of
semi-rigid plastic that will allow your feet to make
slight up and down movements independent of each
other, but will not allow your feet to separate side
to side. Often, ineffective powder skiers have
problems controlling their skis because they are
skiing on them independently, and in many cases they
are doing just what they do on firmer snow; putting
significantly more weight on the outside ski, or
simply skiing with their legs too far apart.

Figure 14.3 Powder Ski on a Semi-Rigid
Platform: Ski
as if your skis can not be separated. Use a 60/40
weight split, with 60% of your weight on the
downhill or outside ski. Never allow the legs to
separate side to side. A small amount of independent
up and down leg action is ok.
