Almost No Skiers Use Self-Arrest Grips

Do you think self-arrest grips do more harm than good? Is risking a self-inflicted injury from the blades worth avoiding falls like these:

In the following video, if the snow had been a bit firmer, the skier would have certainly smacked into the rocks below. The bug on the windshield thing.

No need to remind me why I use self-arrest grips when skiing dicey, steep, scraped out, firm faces and couloirs in the backcountry. The number one reason is; I get more turns if I fall, because I can stop the fall quickly, get back up, make more turns. Oh, and the obvious, I don't die or become seriously injured from a long sliding or tumbling fall.

Would be great to hear from someone else that uses Self-Arrest Grips. Am I all alone?
