Short Radius Turns

Postby SnowFlake on 22 Jan 2010 21:39

What can I say living in the northwest...... El nino..... lets practice our short radius turns.

You watch all the hot shot dudes do it all the way down a run and think..... ok cool.... lets try it.....

Hmmmm lets practice on a less vertical run. Do your hard checks and make your outter thighs hurt. The next

day try to be more fluid and go faster..... omg what a feeling.....

Whats your take or tip?

Love those short radius turns as well!
I would add the following:
1. Use a lot of energy and really slam down on the front of those skis at the end of each turn.
2. You need to make three hard sharp short turns to start and then the rebound gets going.
3. Least we forget, reach out with that pole plant and make sure you pole tip touches out by the ski tip.
Christine does a great job of illustrating it in this video: http://tinyurl.com/yjvos3k. You may need to click play two or three times if this video has not loaded on your computer lately.
